The Magpies have been very quiet in the transfer window so far, with upheaval behind the scenes stunting their ability to improve their squad.
But, now boss Alan Pardew has received the green light to set about securing fresh arrivals, and has made Ince his top target.
The England U-21 international has been attracting the attention of a number of Premier League clubs over the course of 2013, with the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Cardiff having all been linked with moves for his services.
But, interest has cooled slightly of late, which has left the door open for Newcastle.
Pardew is confident that he can convince the skilful winger to move to the North East with the promise of regular first-team football.
It is thought that a bid of around £8m will be enough to snap up the 21-year-old, who earned rave reviews for his performances in the Championship last term.
But, the St James’ Park outfit will have to move fast, with rumours circulating that Everton are also keen.
Ince is aware of their interest, and could be tempted by the Toffees due to their locality to his current home.
Would Newcastle be a good option for Tom Ince?
