The Magpies have endured a turbulent month on and off the pitch following the exit of Alan Pardew and John Carver’s step up to take control of first-team affairs.
And now the North East club look determined to end the transfer window on a high note, with reports claiming that they have asked Evian about the availability of Wass.
The Danish star is known for his versatility, with his ability to fill in on either flank, both in defence and attack, or in central midfield useful.
Wass has enjoyed a good start to the season with the Ligue 1 midtable side, netting eight goals in 21 games, and is widely hailed as their top player.
The 25-year-old is also wanted by Inter Milan and Schalke.
