Newcastle fans are delighted about the capture of Kenedy on loan from Chelsea, but quite a few fans have found a snag to worry about.
Newcastle finally gave the fans what they wanted this week, wrapping up a one-year loan deal for Chelsea’s Kenedy.
The feisty Brazilian was excellent during his loan spell on Tyneside last season, alongside Martin Dubravka who joined permanently earlier this summer.
The Magpies must now switch their attention to signing a new goalscorer, with Dwight Gayle struggling for form and Aleksandar Mitrovic expected to leave the club.
While securing Kenedy without having to pay a transfer fee is great business in the short term, fans are worried that it’s just delaying the inevitable, as they’ll be right back in the same position next summer.
There are no reports to suggest there is a clause to make the deal permanent at the end of the loan, and fans are all bringing it up on Twitter.
You can certainly understand fans’ frustrations, as Mike Ashley loves to bargain hunt, and another successful loan spell for the Brazilian will only up the asking price next summer, pushing him further out of reach.
You can find some of the best reactions down below, where more than a few fans have taken issue with the terms of the deal…
@peter_varley96 he’ll leave for good after this season 🙄

With no buying option, so very ambitious…

Excellent news! I was hoping we would buy him outright but this is the next best thing.

Welcome back KENEDY. I hope you got an option to buy clause this time.

Should’ve just spent the 30m and get him permanently

Is there also an option to buy Kenedy at the end of this season @NUFC?

Would be happier with an option to buy. Can’t help but think that Ashley is going to get away with no real investment. I’m happy with Dubravka and happy with Kennedy coming, wish it had been permanent. Kid a decent squad player on a free. 4m so far. We need a good striker.

So happy Kenedy is now here for a full season on loan, but the suspected option to buy at the end of his loan we all expected to be there doesn’t seem to be?. We really need to sign the lad on a permanent bases.???? #WelcomeBackKenedy
