Jamaal Lascelles made his comeback from a knee injury in Newcastle United's FA Cup third-round replay against Rochdale on Tuesday night.

The central defender had been on the sidelines since picking up a knee problem against Bournemouth in the Premier League on November 9.

The club captain was back in the starting XI against Rochdale, though, and played 57 minutes of what proved to be a 4-1 victory for the Magpies.

And it would be fair to say that a lot of the club's supporters were delighted to see the Englishman back in the side following a relatively lengthy absence.

Lascelles has missed Newcastle's last 10 Premier League matches, but the fact that he was involved against Rochdale suggests that the defender will be in Steve Bruce's thinking for the clash with Chelsea this weekend.

However, some of the supporters want the Englishman to take it easy as another spell on the sidelines could follow if he pushes himself too far.

Others, though, are already thinking about their captain facing Frank Lampard's top-four chasers in Saturday's late kickoff at St James' Park.

Meanwhile, a number of Newcastle fans were delighted with the performance of this youngster during the clash with Rochdale.
