Lots of Newcastle fans have been reacting to some comments from Brighton captain Bruno, as the 38-year-old hopes to use the Toon Army to Brighton’s advantage in Saturday’s huge clash.

Newcastle welcome Brighton to St. James’ Park this weekend in what could turn out to be a momentous day for the Magpies’ season.

A win would likely lift Rafael Benitez’s side out of the relegation zone and just three points behind the team they beat to the Championship title in two seasons ago, but another defeat would leave the Magpies in dire straits.

The Seagulls grabbed themselves three points before the international break with a 1-0 win over West Ham, and club captain Bruno suspects they can frustrate the home crowd at St. James’ on Saturday.

“They’re going to start the game very fast and we have to try to control the pace. Their fans will be behind them, but if they don’t play well, they’re going to be on them,” the veteran defender said.

“Their intensity could be really high, but if we start well, the fans could turn and it’s always tough to play without that confidence. We can take advantage of that.”

Bruno did go on to praise the unique atmosphere on Tyneside, but Newcastle fans aren’t too impressed by his comments.

The Toon Army only have one common enemy right now, and it’s certainly not the manager or any of the players on the pitch.
