Newcastle fans are praising the heavens that they didn’t sign Daniel Sturridge, and mocking the striker for his decision to join West Bromwich Albion.
It was a weird January transfer window for Newcastle fans, as the expected influx of season saving signings didn’t happen, but it turns out it didn’t need to.
Aleksandar Mitrović was loaned out to Fulham where he has found his form in impressive style, and the Magpies were left with a loan move for either Islam Slimani or Daniel Sturridge.
Sturridge, who has found his opportunities at Liverpool limited under Jürgen Klopp, chose to move to West Brom, presumably because it’s closer to his family home in Birmingham.
Newcastle ended up with a move for Islam Slimani, which hasn’t yet had any impact as the Algerian only just made his debut on Saturday.
Despite Slimani’s injury problems, Newcastle fans are delighted that they didn’t sign Sturridge, who himself has only played 78 minutes since his January loan move due to injury.
West Brom announced this morning that manager Alan Pardew has left the club, and Newcastle fans are mercilessly mocking Sturridge for his decision to work with Pardew instead of Rafa Benitez.
