Newcastle fans have been discussing whether they should sign Islam Slimani permanently this summer, and it seems like a pretty even split amongst fans.
When Slimani signed for Newcastle in January, fans were hopeful he could fire the goals to keep them in the Premier League.
The move that was supposed to revive the Algerian’s Premier League career has only further killed it off so far though, as the 29 year-old has yet to start a game due to a thigh problem.
The towering striker, who scored 27 league goals in his last full season in Portugal, looked decent when he entered the fray briefly in the win over Huddersfield.
Still, some fans aren’t at all convinced by the Algerian international, claiming his wages and potential transfer fee would not be worth the investment this summer.
There are plenty in the other camp too, pointing out that this is the same player that scored 27 league goals just two seasons ago.
Fans are of course delighted with the improvement of Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez, but the struggles of Joselu means the Magpies need to sign another striker this summer.
Whether that striker is Slimani or not is clearly still up for debate, and some of the best Twitter reactions can be found below…
Win a move? I’d take him in an instant

If it's 2-3m per place in prize money. I can see us signing him but only if we finish 8th or 9th. Would expect him to be in the region of 18m.

He'll be 30 soon, Leicester will want at least 20 million, and Slimani will want 90k+ a week at the least. That's just a bad investment, no matter how well he does. Can't see Ashley ever signing that off, don't see Rafa even trying to ask.

Haven't seen enough 0f him for him to deserve a move tbh.

Looked good in the few minutes he played. Physical, clever on and off ball. If fitness and wages not an issue I would defo sign him.
