Jack Colback has been told he can leave Newcastle on a permanent basis this summer, and well; let’s just say fans are quite happy about it.
According to The Chronicle, Colback is “in talks” with Nottingham Forest about making his loan move permanent, and is “edging closer” to an exit from Tyneside.
The 28 year-old, currently on £40,000-a-week, has made nearly 100 league appearances for the Magpies, but those have come fewer and farther between in the last couple of seasons, culminating in his loan move to Forest last season.
The ex-Sunderland midfielder has struggled with injuries, and fans are absolutely delighted to get him off the books.
The focus is of course all on who the Magpies will sign at the moment, but dumping a few unwanted players off the wage bill is a positive step, and will have an impact on which players they can bring in.
Perhaps expected for an ex-Sunderland player that has struggled so much in recent seasons, but fans are absolutely crucifying Colback on Twitter.
