Newcastle fans are in sheer disbelief with Everton manager Sam Allardyce, after the former England man branded them as a negative, defensive team.

It must feel a bit strange for Newcastle fans at the moment. They lost 1-0 to Everton last night, didn’t play very well, and yet nobody is panicking.

No one is worrying about where the next points will come from, no one is wondering if this is the loss that pushes Rafael Benitez out of the door, and no one is organising their trip to Burton Albion next season.

Despite the somewhat relieving sensation of a defeat that doesn’t cause mass hysteria, fans are certainly unimpressed by the comments of the Everton manager, who criticised the way Rafa Benitez set his team up.

“What was wrong with our style today? We completely dominated the game,” Allardyce said.

“We out-passed the opposition and found it very difficult to break them down because of their negative tactics of dropping ten players in their own half.”

It probably goes without saying, but Big Sam is the last person that should be complaining about negative football, as even Everton fans are fed up of his uninspiring tactics.

Everton did have the lion’s share of the ball, but saying they dominated the game is a bit over the top, as the Toffees managed just one shot on target.
