Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to Saturday’s disappointing result, and they all agree it’s time to drop Mo Diame.
While the January loan signings of Kenedy and Martin Dubravka certainly played their part, Newcastle’s revival in the second half of last season was due mainly to the players who were already at the club.
Jonjo Shelvey dominated games from start to finish, Ayoze Perez transformed into a completely different player and Jamaal Lascelles was an absolute brick wall in the heart of defence.
Diame was perhaps the best of the lot though, cementing his cult hero status with some fabulous all-action displays.
The 31-cap Senegal international was incredible as the Magpies won four on the bounce to get them out of relegation trouble, but he has been non-existent so far this season.
The 31-year-old wasn’t the only one who let himself down during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat, but fans are crucifying his display.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below, look away now Mo…

Lack of competition leads to reduction in quality. He was top notch last season because a certain Mikel Merino kept him on his toes.
Now, he has no competition at all.

Yedlin looked jetlagged; Lascellles poor; Perez pointless , Diame clueless; dummett immobile, kenedy one trick pony, Dubravka nervous.

Diame £5m from Hull. Joselu £5m from Stoke. You get what you pay for I’m afraid. There were players out there today who should be nowhere near a PL first team.

Frightening that we’re behind at the break, also Diame is an absolute liability in midfield! #NUFC
