So Andy Carroll finally looks set to make his Newcastle return. The Gateshead-born centre-forward had been a cult hero in his first spell at the club, but has since seen his career take a down-turn thanks to a wretched run with injuries.
But after re-signing for the Magpies earlier this summer, the 30-year-old could be set for his first piece of action back at his old stomping ground in the clash against Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Steve Bruce confirmed the striker could be set to feature against the Seagulls, and hoped he could “give the home supporters a lift”.
After hearing about the injury update on Carroll, Newcastle fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts about seeing him play for the club once more.
Many supporters of the Tyneside club revealed they are buzzing about seeing him back in action, and tipped him to score the winning goal with a trademark header.
Check out some of the reaction of Newcastle fans below:
Brilliant. Can’t wait for Carroll to score the winner …. on a header of course.

Andy Carroll is going to score a header so powerful tomorrow it tears through the back of the Gallowgate End and ends up on Stowell Street melting into the tarmac. Best make amendments @NUFC. #NUFC #BHAFC
