Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has admitted that his club will more than likely have to sell players before they are able to spend this summer.
Ki Sung-yueng has moved to St James’ Park on a free transfer, while Kenedy has arrived on loan from Chelsea to boost Newcastle’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Magpies are still desperately short of options, however, and it seems that Benitez will find it difficult to boost his squad until players are sold.
It does seem to be an incredible situation for a club of Newcastle’s size.
Whilst West Ham United have splashed the cash to considerably improve their squad this summer, the Newcastle fans appear to be in for another frustrating summer.
Speculation surrounding the future of Benitez continues to drag on, and a number of Newcastle fans have insisted that they would not blame the Spaniard if he walked away.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the club’s supporters can be seen below:
No way rafa stays beyond this year if this doesnt change and we are taken over…knowing ashley he will wait till the last 2 days to sanction bids, then itll be the same old…we tried…it was too late

I can’t see and don’t blame Benitez for not signing a new contract.
You have to ask, what is the point in this football club?

Will understand Rafas decision to leave the club at the end of the contract. The clubs ambition is to purely exist at this point.

Nobody would blame Rafa if he walked. Shambles of a football club, Ashley & his cohorts unfit for purpose.

Takeover won’t happen. Ashley doesn’t want to sell we are making him and Sports Direct a fortune. Free advertising, TV money (reinvested after making him a fortune in interest) loan deals and freebies. We are the Sports Direct in a league with Harrods and Rolex’s
