Jermaine Jenas is becoming a regular on our TV screens since taking up a punditry role with BT Sport, and he has landed in hot water after making some eyebrow-raising comments about Newcastle United.

The retired midfielder played for the Magpies between 2002 and 2005 before leaving St James' Park to join Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent eight years of his career.

During BT Sport's live coverage of Saturday's Premier League match between Liverpool and Newcastle United at Anfield, where the Reds ran out 2-0 winners, Jenas claimed that his performances for the Magpies dropped after returning from England duty because the "demand" was not as high at the North-East outfit.

Many have claimed that Jenas failed to live up to his potential, and while discussing his career, the former midfielder agreed with that point of view and admitted that it was his own fault.

Newcastle fans have taken note of Jenas's comments and some have taken offence at his apparent criticism of the Magpies' team at the time.
