Loads of Newcastle fans have been giving their verdict on the loss at Manchester City, and they nearly all agree that the performance was very good despite the 2-1 defeat.

Most Newcastle fans would admit they were expecting a cricket score when Raheem Sterling scored early for Manchester City on Saturday, but the Magpies fought brilliantly to stay in the game.

Rafael Benitez’s side have got an absolutely brutal stretch of games to open up the season, and after the woeful performance at Nottingham Forest in the week it was hard to envisage them getting anything from this game.

DeAndre Yedlin equalised in the first half though, and despite the hosts eventually taking all three points thanks to a Kyle Walker wonder-goal, the Toon Army are in high spirits.

The defence looked more solid thanks to the return of Jamaal Lascelles, Martin Dubravka showed once again what an excellent signing he is, and best of all Salomon Rondon was an absolute handful up front on his own.

The Magpies host Arsenal after the international break, and another performance like the one at the Etihad could certainly give the Gunners a shock.
