On Friday, Newcastle United’s official website revealed that a number of youngsters had signed new contracts with the Magpies ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Nathan Harker, Lewis Cass, Tom Allan, Owen Bailey, Liam Gibson, Mo Sangare, Oliver Walsh and Stefan O’Connor were first announced.
And then it was revealed that second-year scholars Jack Young, Dan Langley and Ryan Barrett have also signed professional contracts.
Eleven players in total and potentially a whole new team for the Magpies.
It is a difficult period for Newcastle with much-loved head coach Rafael Benitez leaving and a number of players being linked with moves away.
And with the exit of Ayoze Perez still fresh in mind, many of the club’s supporters feel that the youngsters might end up being the bulk of the first team next season.
