Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to their hunt for a striker, as the club are making medical checks on former Magpie Andy Carroll, with one report even claiming personal terms are already agreed for a return to Tyneside.

It’s always special when a local hero comes back to their hometown club, and it looks like the 30 year-old could be about to come "home”, as many of the Toon Army are putting it.

According to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, the club are in discussions over a swoop for the free agent, making fitness checks after he underwent ankle surgery earlier this year.

The report claims Steve Bruce is a “big fan” of Carroll, who of course made his name on Tyneside before he got his big move to Liverpool back in January 2011.

Oliver Kay of The Times has since added to the reports, claiming personal terms have been agreed on an initial one-year deal.

Newcastle are of course in need of a striker. Joelinton has arrived this summer while Dwight Gayle looks certain to play a role after returning from a loan spell at West Brom, but the departures of Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon still leave Bruce a little light in the position.

And fans would love to see Carroll be the one to fill that void, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…
