Loads of Newcastle fans have been running the rule over Saturday’s huge win against Huddersfield, and they are once again delighted with the progress of Sean Longstaff.

Newcastle welcomed the league’s worst side to St. James’ Park on Saturday, but they still had to go out there and put in a top-notch performance, which is exactly what they did.

The Magpies were on the front foot right from the off, as Miguel Almiron struck the woodwork on his home debut with a difficult lobbed finish and several other chances went begging.

Huddersfield had Tommy Smith sent off for a ludicrous tackle on Almiron, who tortured the Terriers all afternoon.

Salomon Rondon broke the deadlock shortly after half-time before Ayoze Perez doubled the lead, and there was no way back for the ten men from Yorkshire then.

While Almiron will rightfully take the headlines, Longstaff once again ran the game from midfield, completely bossing the Terriers with his calmness on the ball and excellent, progressive passing. He also struck a thunderous effort off the crossbar in the second half.
