Newcastle fans are delighted with the form of Salomon Rondon, after the powerful striker picked up an assist in the defeat at Manchester City.

After the woeful performance at Nottingham Forest during the week, it would have been no surprise for Manchester City to rack up five or six goals against the Magpies on Saturday evening.

Rafael Benitez’s side stood firm though, and might even consider themselves unlucky to have left without getting something more than a 2-1 defeat.

While there were several reasons for optimism, no one impressed more than Rondon, who was an absolute beast up front on his own.

The new number nine grabbed his first goal for the Magpies in the defeat at Forest, and it was his brilliant work that set up DeAndre Yedlin’s goal at the Etihad.

He also won an amazing seven aerial duels, as he worked tirelessly to keep the ball while isolated with two centre backs.
