Dwight Gayle is currently being linked with a move away from Newcastle United - as covered by The Mirror - and Stoke City are believed to be in the hunt.

The 27-year-old only managed six Premier League goals for the Magpies last season, but his overall record of 29 strikes in 71 Newcastle fixtures is more than respectable.

It has often been said that Gayle is more of a Championship forward than a Premier League one, and it is not difficult to see why Stoke are said to be interested.

According to The Chronicle, Gayle wants to stay at Newcastle this summer, but it remains to be seen what the Magpies have in mind.

Indeed, it is difficult to imagine them turning down a sizeable bid for Gayle, who is valued at £9m by transfermarkt.co.uk, if they manage to sign reinforcements ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

The Newcastle fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation, and it would be fair to say that the bulk are split when it comes to whether Gayle, who has also previously been linked with Leeds United, should be sold.
