Newcastle United announced on Monday that midfielder Sean Longstaff had signed a new four-year contract with the club.

Longstaff, 21, came through the youth system at St James' Park, and has now signed a fresh deal until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

Longstaff made his first-team debut for the Magpies earlier this season in the EFL Cup, and has also been named on the bench on four separate occasions in the Premier League.

Last term, the midfielder scored nine times in 45 matches during a loan spell at Blackpool, and now seems ready to make his mark with the Magpies.

Longstaff, who has also previously spent time on loan at Kilmarnock, vowed to kick on after putting pen to paper on a new deal.

The Newcastle fans have been on social media sharing their opinions on the news, and it would be fair to say that many are pleased with the update on the 5ft 9in ace.
