Newcastle United have confirmed that Achraf Lazaar has joined Serie B outfit Cosenza Calcio on loan for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign.
The 27-year-old has been with Newcastle since 2016 but has made just 10 appearances for the English club in all competitions.
Lazaar will see his contract at St James’ Park expire in June 2021, and it remains to be seen whether the left-back has a future with the Magpies.
But the fact that he has not turned out for the club for two years does seem to suggest that the Morocco international is unlikely to make another appearance.
Lazaar has spent time out on loan with Benevento and Sheffield Wednesday during the last couple of seasons – making four appearances for the latter last term.

Thank god we’ve got Lazaar and Aarons off the books. Roughly £45k p/w saved there

Between them I’d think Lazaar & Aarons cost #NUFC about $50k a week. I sincerely doubt any of that is being picked up by their loan clubs. Lazaar must go done was one of the worst transfers in our long history.

We’ve made some woeful signings over the years, but can’t be many worse than Achraf Lazaar #nufc
