Disappointed but not surprised. That’s the feeling around the Toon Army at the moment, as the club confirmed yet more bad news for their fans on Thursday.
Ayoze Perez has officially joined Leicester City, the Magpies announced on their official Twitter account.
Since then, the Spaniard has gone from a skilful but flimsy forward player lacking end product to the club’s finest attacking talent, racking up 48 goals and 17 assists in nearly 200 appearances in all competitions.
Of course, the Magpies have already lost Salomon Rondon after his loan ended, and Twitter account Newcastle Stats say that the pair combined for 53.5% of the side’s goals last season.
The departure of Perez also means that Fabian Schar, the centre-back, is now the club’s leading scorer for last season with four. Quite simply, this is a crucial blow to the side’s ability to score goals, something they already struggled with, netting just 42 goals in 38 league games last year.

No good using the buy out clause as an excuse for him leaving. If you’d wanted him to stay you’d have offered him an improved contract. Exactly the same as with Rafa. No Ambition United.
