Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a surprising update, as Mo Diame is set to be handed a new contract at the club.
According to Lee Ryder, Newcastle will follow up the new and improved deal for Jamaal Lascelles by extending Diame’s contract as well.
Fans were stunned when Lascelles signed a whopping six-year deal with the club, ensuring even if the skipper does leave that the Magpies will get a huge transfer fee for him.

Diame is now next in line, as the retired Senegalese international remains a constant fixture in Rafael Benitez’ side.
The report claims the midfielder has an arrangement in his current deal to extend his stay if he plays a certain number of games this season, a number he is almost guaranteed to hit.
Fans were delighted with the Lascelles news, but they’re not too happy with this one after Diame’s poor start to the season.
This news is perhaps even more surprising than the deal for the skipper, and you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

I think there’s still another season after this left in him. Ideally you’d like to think we can sign a better CM in the summer and use Diame from the bench.

I don’t mind him getting a new deal tbh. My worry is its another colocini. We needed another cb and we gave colo a new deal instead. Diame will be a good player to keep, but we need another holding midfielder

Shouldn’t the tweet start ‘How IS Mo Diame’ not “How Mo Diame is”?
