According to reports in The Mirror, Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is a £25m summer target for Premier League rivals Everton, and Magpies fans have been quick to react to the rumour.

The Mirror says that the Toffees, along with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, are all keen on the 6ft 2in centre-back following an impressive season, although he would come at a cost seeing as he only signed a new six-year deal at St James' Park last summer.

The report of a potential £25m offer from the Merseyside outfit almost certainly would be laughed off by the Tyneside club – especially as they sold Andy Carroll and Moussa Sissoko for £35m and £30m to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in previous years.

Newcastle supporters, who are desperate on Twitter to wrap up the signing of a 22-year-old star this summer, took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one simply said "double it", another said he's "worth at least £50m in today's market".
