Newcastle United announced on Monday afternoon that teenage midfielder Joe White had signed his first professional contract with the club.

White joined the Magpies from Carlisle United in 2016 and only turned 17 last month.

Newcastle's official website have described the teenager as "a skilful playmaker", whilst the contract announcement also lists Zinedine Zidane and Kevin De Bruyne as inspirations for the youngster.

The attacker turned out for the club's Under-18 outfit last season, whilst he has already featured for the Under-23s this term.

A further tweet from Newcastle reveals that White has also been training with the first team in 2019/20, suggesting that he is potentially under consideration by Steve Bruce to become the latest academy product to make the step up.
