Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after their academy graduate turned first-team star Sean Longstaff was tipped for a call-up to the England Under-21 side following a string of brilliant performances, as reported by The Chronicle.

The 21-year-old holding midfielder was outstanding in the recent 2-1 win over Manchester City, earning the penalty for Matt Ritchie's winning goal and providing a calm, assured showing in a midfield packed with world-class talent.

England Under-21 chief Aidy Boothroyd is well aware of the midfielder's progress, and Longstaff could earn himself a place in the Three Lions' squad for next month's games against Poland and Germany.
