Lots of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a tweet from Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves, who had his say on the reported takeover statement from the Bin Zayed Group.
The statement basically said nothing new or concrete, but just reaffirmed that the group are trying their best to complete a deal, leaving fans questioning the very validity of the proposed takeover.
Now, Graves, a Newcastle-based Sky Sports reporter, has tweeted his verdict on the situation.
Problem: sources in Dubai adamant it's happening. Numerous sources outside Dubai advising extreme caution. Journos afraid to be burned (again). Can't blame press for not reporting if not 100% sure. Abuse for getting things wrong is toxic. Weirdest summer ever. #nufc #NUFCTakeover https://t.co/Tfca5ZF4Nl

Graves alludes to the conflicting sources on different continents, saying that those outside of Dubai are advising caution, while he also slams the toxic atmosphere around the press before calling this the “weirdest summer ever”.
The St. James’ Park faithful are running out of patience though, if they haven’t already, and some of them took issue with the tweet while others simply agreed that the club is in utter disarray.
Either way, you can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
Pete, why is it toxic? What is the biggest problem at #NUFC this summer? Is it Mike Ashley? And yet you and seemingly none of your colleagues across journalism appear willing to genuinely go in on him. To attack his way of running the club. Genuinely and strongly.

This is definitely the worst summer in the 12 years of his ownership. Confusion and lack of communication. Self destruction.
Joke of a club. The other teams higher ups must laugh at us daily.

Weird? It’s anything but weird Pete. It’s a complete dereliction of duty on every conceivable part of the business spectrum.
The club, fanbase, players and stadium are totally neglected, there’s no rationale as to why and zero accountability from the hierarchy.
A total outrage.

maybe if most of the journalists stood up to MA and not report his PR propaganda (like skysports, talksport) it might be different
— Brian Hellens (@bri44life) July 9, 2019
Telling you now this isn’t happening when are people going to wake up ? The ones that believe in this are the ones that think we will get 5 players in before the transfer window shuts and finish in the top 4! It’s another Ashley ploy to take heat off not spending money. #nufc

Fans want answers @PeteGravesSky The reactions that journos get is justifiable until they are able to report actual news. Regurgitated PR spin is spotted by the #NUFC fan base immediately. We’ve had 12-years of it.

People have worked themselves up into a frenzy by hanging all their hopes on the initial rumours. Now that reality is dawning on them they’re embarrassed that they’ve been had again so start lashing out. It’s been a pathetic spectacle in all honesty
