Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on being the favourites to sign their former striker Andy Carroll, whose future at West Ham looks uncertain as a result of injury problems along with his struggles in front of goal.
The 30-year-old scored his first goal since April in the recent 2-0 win over Birmingham in the FA Cup, but will have to rack up a few more if he is to dislodge Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez in the Hammers’ pecking order.
Carroll came through the academy at St James Park and was a fans’ favourite on Tyneside before Liverpool swooped in with a £35m bid, an offer that the Magpies simply couldn’t refuse.
However, he is now being considered as an option to solve Rafa Benitez’s goalscoring woes, but the club should maybe think twice about unloading a huge financial package on an injury prone, goal-shy centre forward.
Let’s take a look at how the Magpies’ fans reacted to the news…
