According to The Sun, Newcastle are one of five clubs interested in signing Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen in this summer's transfer window.

Allen is widely expected to leave Stoke following their relegation from the Premier League, and the 28-year-old will reportedly be available for £20m at the end of the season.

Newcastle will seemingly face a battle with the likes of West Ham United and Swansea City to sign the Wales international, whilst Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sevilla are both said to be closely monitoring developments.

Allen has struggled for consistency this season, but there is no question that the midfielder is a talent, and one who should be operating in the Premier League.

The Newcastle fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation, and it would be fair to say that they are struggling to agree when it comes to the former Liverpool midfielder, who has four goals and seven assists to his name this season.
