Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles has claimed that his teammates will have "more heart" and be hungrier than the Manchester United players when the two teams meet at St James' Park on Sunday via Sky Sports' Keith Downie, and Magpies fans are furious with the 24-year-old's comments.

The Toon go into the weekend clash just one point above the relegation zone and they could even be in the bottom three by the time they kick off against the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

Rafa Benitez's side also have the worst home record in the Premier League having taken just 13 points and scored 11 goals in 13 top flight matches on their own turf.

It certainly won't be an easy task against Jose Mourinho's men even though the Portuguese manager has never won on Tyneside in six previous attempts in the Premier League, as they currently lie second in the standings.

Newcastle supporters were quick to have their say on what Lascelles said via social media, and while one said "this could end up embarrassing come post-match", another said "that's Mourinho's team talk sorted".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
