According to ChronicleLive, Newcastle United requirement chief Steve Nickson will travel to the United States at some point in the next week to hold discussions with Atlanta United over a move for Miguel Almiron.
Newcastle have been strongly linked with Almiron over the last few months, and the Magpies appear to be in the driving seat despite previous interest from the likes of West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Nickson will seemingly head to the USA for talks with Atlanta, but it remains to be seen whether the Premier League club can agree a deal.
The Newcastle fans have been on social media reacting to the speculation, and it would be fair to say that not too many are hopeful when it comes to the deal.
Almiron has scored 13 times and registered 13 assists for Atlanta this term, and will seemingly move on in January.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Newcastle fans can be seen below:
Money and ambition…so that’s us knackered then. Still, a nice jolly up for Steve.

More lies, story only leaked presumably in order to reduce the effect of boycott/walking in late. We never hear of real signings until they are completed.#AshleyOut

More than we’ll offer. But we’ll offer less than he’ll ask for and we will fail to ‘get it over the line’.
