According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are in talks with Bundesliga outfit Mainz over a £9m deal for Yoshinori Muto.
The 26-year-old, who featured once for Japan at the 2018 World Cup, has managed 20 goals in 66 Bundesliga appearances since his arrival from FC Tokyo.
Last term, meanwhile, the attacker netted 10 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions – including eight in 27 league fixtures.
There is no question that Muto is a talented footballer, but there are suggestions that he lacks the physicality to play in the Premier League.
The Newcastle fans have been reacting to the transfer speculation surrounding Muto, and a number of the supporters have differing views on the same situation.
Indeed, there are those who would be happy to take Muto this summer, but there are also plenty who feel that the 5ft 9in ace would not really be an upgrade on the likes of Dwight Gayle.

Maybe this means gayle is off to west brom to make the rondon deal easier? I’d be very happy if that was the case

For me swapping Mitro and Gayle for Rondon and Muto is like swapping a BMW and a Mercedes (But you’ve lost the keys) for a Ford Mondeo and a Fiat Panda (No racism meant,) but in this instance you have three sets of spare keys ~ #nufc

Better than Rondon, but that’s about the most enthusiasm I can muster.
