Newcastle United did well to stop a Fulham side that boasts the likes of Andre Schurrle and Aleksandar Mitrovic in attack but, equally, should be disappointed to have not been able to break down a defence that has shipped 42 goals already this season – in fact, this was the Cottagers’ first clean sheet of the league season.
Much has been made of Mike Ashley’s willingness, or lack thereof, to appropriately back Newcastle in the transfer market – as such, Rafa Benitez has been forced to make do with the limited funds available to him and has done a remarkable job by keeping the Magpies in the Premier League since their return for the 2017/18 season.
As a result, the Spaniard is more or less a hero on Tyneside who can do little wrong in the eyes of the St James Park faithful, but even the most pro-Benitez among the Toon Army will surely be disappointed, at least, by the boss’ recent comments regarding top flight survival.
The former Liverpool boss has said it would be a “miracle” if his side avoid relegation to the Championship without sufficient backing in the January window. Unfortunately the 58-year-old seems resigned to that fate and Newcastle fans aren’t happy with it one bit – you can find the best of the reaction on Twitter below…
Ashley don’t care what is said , if we go down he’s not bothered either , he knows stadium will still be full …. shameful

Well he has to take some blame for where we are.Negative tactics and team selection.

He’s lost the plot, his team selection, tactics and substitutions particularly at Wolves and Fulham will cost us PL status.
