According to reports in The Mirror, Newcastle are considering signing out of favour Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres during the January transfer window, and Magpies fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The Mirror says that the 33-year-old is keen for a Premier League swansong in the second-half of the campaign after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by this term, with the centre-forward's representatives telling the Tyneside outfit and Southampton that he could be available on loan.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea man worked under Magpies boss Rafa Benitez during his successful spell with Anfield, and the Spanish boss is likely to want to strengthen his attacking options in the New Year.

Newcastle supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the story, and while one said he is "better than what we have", another said he would be "a moronic signing".
