Newcastle fans react to Slimani charge

Islam Slimani has more than likely played his final match for Newcastle United.

Indeed, it was confirmed on Monday that the forward had been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident during Saturday’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Slimani appeared to kick out at West Brom defender Craig Dawson in the 80th minute of the Premier League game at St James’ Park, which Newcastle lost 1-0.

The Algeria international has until 6pm on Tuesday to respond to the charge, but it is thought that the three-match suspension will remain in place.

Slimani joined Newcastle on loan from Leicester City in January, but has only played four times for the Magpies, and is facing missing their final three Premier League games of the season.

The Newcastle supporters do not seem too fussed, however, with the 29-year-old, who is valued at £19.8m by transfermarkt.co.uk, receiving a lot of criticism on social media.

Indeed, many of the fans have insisted that Aleksandar Mitrovic should have never been loaned to Fulham so that Slimani could arrive.
