Newcastle United supporters are encouraged by reports that Dwight Gayle could be part of a deal that sees Salomon Rondon sign permanently at St James’ Park.
The Mail reported on Sunday that new West Bromwich Albion boss Slaven Bilic is keen on keeping Gayle at the club after a successful loan spell from the Magpies last season.
Likewise in Newcastle, Rafa Benitez is a big fan of Rondon after his loan from the Baggies.
Loose cannon or vital cog in the Newcastle’s machine? The Magpie Channel think it would be a mistake to sell the player in the video below…
The paper say options will be explored that include Gayle as part of the package that sees the Venezuelan make his move to St James’ Park permanent.
Rondon was a big part of Newcastle’s season last term, scoring 12 goals and assisting seven times, proving to be an effective focal point in the final third who could bring teammates into the game around him, as well as provide an obvious threat of his own.
Supporters of the Magpies are desperate to see a deal announced, with many taking to Twitter over the weekend to share their thoughts on a potential switch that includes Gayle…
Makes perfect sense.

Anything to get the deal done is good enough for me. Guaranteed to get Gayle off the books and reduce the £16.5m fee for Rondon.
