In-form Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez failed to get the goal he perhaps should have done in his side's 1-0 defeat against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night, and Magpies fans were quick to have their say on his performance.

The 24-year-old, who earns £20,000-a-week according to a report in The Sun from 2016, came into the clash on Merseyside having helped his team record four successive Premier League wins with three goals and one assist during that period, and he should have added to that tally against the Toffees.

The Spaniard had five efforts at goal – with just two of those being on target – while he should have done much better when he had the chance to assist Islam Slimani, whom he is understandably still lacking a real connection with.

Newcastle supporters, who were angered by reports linking Perez with a move away from St James' Park last week, took to social media to give their thoughts on his latest display, and while one described him as "utterly infuriating", another said "he killed this match tonight".
