Newcastle fans slam Paul Dummett after West Brom defeat

Newcastle United left-back Paul Dummett was at fault for the goal his team conceded in their 1-0 defeat against the Premier League’s bottom side West Bromwich Albion at St James’ Park on Saturday, and Magpies fans were quick to slaughter him for his display.

The long-serving Toon defender has been in impressive form for the Tyneside outfit in recent weeks – as shown by his positive statistics in the win against Huddersfield last month – but he struggled against the Baggies and he lost Matt Phillips in the first half as the winger netted the goal that separated the two teams.

Dummett was then replaced by Jacob Murphy as Rafa Benitez made an attacking substitution in the 58th minute, and the Spanish boss will be hoping it was simply an off day for the 26-year-old.

Newcastle supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the left-back’s performance via social media, and while one said he was “back to his bad old days”, another described it as his “worst game for a long time”.
