Newcastle fans split over Origi links

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are interested in signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi in this summer’s transfer window.

Origi joined Liverpool from Lille in the summer of 2015, and the attacker scored 10 times in his first season with the Premier League club.

The Belgium international then struck 11 goals in all competitions for the Reds during the 2016-17 campaign, but was sent on loan to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg last term.

The 23-year-old managed seven goals during his time with Wolfsburg, but the 6ft 1in ace has returned to Liverpool ahead of the 2018-19 season.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are interested in signing Origi in this summer’s transfer window.

The Magpies are in desperate need of a new striker this summer due to the struggles of Dwight Gayle and Joselu last season, while Aleksandar Mitrovic will soon move on to Fulham on a permanent deal.

A number of Newcastle fans would be interested in a deal for Origi, but not everyone is in agreement. A selection of the Twitter reaction to the deal can be seen below:
