Loads of Newcastle fans are fuming on Twitter after Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie revealed that Steve Bruce is a candidate to replace Rafael Benitez.
Nigel Pearson, Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew, John Carver, Steve McClaren. Newcastle fans had endured some pretty horrific managers before hitting the jackpot with Benitez.
Of course, the Spaniard has now left the club to manage in China, and the Magpies are on the hunt for a new boss.
According to Downie, Bruce is “one of the names under consideration” to take over at St. James’ Park, while he also states that the bookmakers took a lot of money on the move Monday night.
We understand Steve Bruce is one of the names under consideration to take over at Newcastle United. He’s been backed in to 9/4 favourite with some major bookmakers overnight. Bruce is Newcastle-born, but of course previously managed rivals Sunderland. #NUFC

Bruce was born near Newcastle, but has managed arch-rivals Sunderland in the past, as well as the likes of Hull City, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.
His latest stint with the Owls has been impressive, transforming a side that was limping over the finish line in the Championship, losing just three of 18 league matches in charge.
Still though, the Toon Army are clearly not fond of the 58 year-old, and several of the responders to Downie’s tweet are in total meltdown mode.

There better be riots if he gets the job

I’m less concerned about his Sunderland history than I am about the fact that he’s an absolutely shocking football manager.

Glad I cancelled my season ticket. That is the level that they want to stoop to. He’s a crap manager. Bargain basement tripe.
