Loads of Newcastle fans have been reacting to a decision from Didier Deschamps, as they can’t believe Florian Lejeune is not in the conversation for the French national side.
Deschamps named his squad for France’s upcoming EURO 2020 qualifiers this week, and there were some surprising omissions.
Manchester City fans are fuming that Aymeric Laporte was not included, which is down to Deschamps’ refusal to have too many left-footed defenders in the squad.

Shockingly, the World Cup winning boss included Everton’s Kurt Zouma for that very reason, which has raised the question why Lejeune has not been included.
Zouma has started 22 league games for the Toffees this season, keeping just five clean sheets in those games, while Lejeune has been instrumental in Newcastle’s turnaround in recent months.
The 27 year-old has been nothing short of superb since returning from injury, and the Twitter reactions down below simply can’t fathom Deschamps’ bizarre decision to select the underperforming Zouma…
“Didier Deschamps only allows two left-footed CB’s – Umtiti and Kimpembe – in his squad, which is why Lenglet and Laporte miss out.
“It is also why Kurt Zouma, right footed, has been entered into the squad.”

Imagine Lejeune pinging balls to the likes of Mbappe and Griezmann though. Disgrace how he’s not been picked

I’m not informed enough on the French scene to say whether or not Florian Lejeune ought to be called up but he’s more than a little better than Kurt Zouma.
