Lots of Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been reacting to a key update from The Chronicle's chief writer Lee Ryder.

The journalist confirmed to the Toon Army late on Tuesday night that Salomon Rondon's release clause will be set at £16.5 million with West Bromwich Albion remaining in the Sky Bet Championship after being knocked out of the play-offs on penalties by Aston Villa.

The Venezuelan international striker has impressed on loan at St. James' Park this season, helping Rafa Benitez's men escape the Premier League trap door for the second successive campaign with 11 goals and seven assists.

However, as it stands, he will still return to the Hawthorns at the end of May when his loan time is up. It's clear that Magpies supporters unsurprisingly want him to stay permanently in the north east.

They issued rallying comments urging their club to get the deal done in the replies to Ryder's post, with one suggesting that they offer West Brom the full money plus a band of players, another a swap deal with Dwight Gayle and one more simply stating "no brainer."
