Newcastle fans are eyeing up a shock swoop for Manchester City’s Phil Foden, after Pep Guardiola hinted he could be available on loan.
Manchester City boss Guardiola says he is yet to decide whether youngster like Foden will be allowed to leave on loan, but that he will know once everyone reports back for pre-season.
Given that the champions will be welcoming back a whole host of World Cup stars, and have already added Riyad Mahrez to their incredible attack, one would have to assume Foden will struggle for playing time at the Etihad.
With Mike Ashley’s propensity for bargain deals and loans, Newcastle will surely be one of a number of teams eyeing up the young Englishman if he is allowed to leave.
The 18 year-old made five league appearances last season, and his wonderful technical skill and burst of acceleration have many Manchester City fans feeling he is their next big star.
Newcastle are of course in need of a creative number ten, and the teenager’s impressive maturity and versatility would make him a great option for Rafael Benitez to have at his disposal.
