Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has spoken out about his desire to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic, but Newcastle fans are hoping they wait until after the World Cup to sell.

According to reports, Fulham manager Jokanovic was at Serbia’s training camp this week, where he expressed his desire to keep the feisty striker at Craven Cottage.

Mitrovic couldn’t come to terms with what Rafael Benitez expected of his players at St. James’, and although plenty of fans criticised the decision to let the young striker leave, the Magpies’ form in his absence has silenced the doubters.

The 23 year-old was pivotal in Fulham’s promotion though, scoring 12 times in 18 starts after his loan move in January.

The Cottagers are now hoping to keep hold of him when they take on the top tier of English football, but Newcastle fans are praying they can repeat the sale of Moussa Sissoko, who they sold for a whopping £30m after his impressive Euro 2016 showing.

If Mitrovic can shine at the World Cup for Serbia, the Magpies could get a huge sum to reinvest in their own frontline, and if the Serbian continues his form for the Cottagers into next season it could be a win for all parties.
