Newcastle United produced a fantastic performance at St James’ Park on Saturday to overcome the Premier League’s bottom side Huddersfield Town by a 2-0 scoreline. The Magpies secured the three points via goals from Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez, whilst January signing Miguel Almiron and academy product Sean Longstaff both also impressed.

Perez’s strike took his tally of league goals for the season to four, marking his second in his last five matches. The 25-year-old attacker has endured an inconsistent campaign so far, but looks as though he could be coming into his best form at a crucial time in the season.

If the Spaniard can impress for the rest of this season then that will be a massive boost for Rafa Benitez’s side, who have struggled to pose a goal threat beyond Rondon at times this year. Against the Terriers it also looked as though a productive partnership between Perez and Almiron could develop too.

After the match, plenty of Newcastle fans took to Twitter to praise Perez for his much-improved performance…
