Newcastle United supporters are eager for the club to bring Fulham star Tom Cairney to St James’ Park after his stand-out performance in the English Championship play-off final on Saturday.
The Scotland international scored the only goal of the game against Aston Villa at Wembley, firing his side into the English Premier League.
It’s a performance that caps off a wonderful season for the midfielder, who has been one of the most consistent performers in the entire English second-tier throughout 2017/18.
He’s demonstrated he has more than enough quality to compete in the top-flight next term and is likely to be a wanted man in this summer’s transfer window.
Newcastle fans are hoping his destination might be in the north east, believing he could be a key part of Rafa Benitez’s side next term.
Some are even suggesting they leverage Aleksandar Mitrovic’s importance to the Cottagers in recent months in order to facilitate some sort of swap deal.
Supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts after Saturday’s match…

Love Cairney, wish we had a hope of signing the lad. If Fulham go up, the slim chance goes to no chance. #NUFC
