Newcastle United received an offer of £10m from Stoke City for centre-forward Dwight Gayle over the weekend, as covered by The Daily Mail.

However, according to The Chronicle, Magpies boss Rafael Benitez is not prepared to sell this summer unless the club manage to secure a replacement.

Gayle netted 23 times during Newcastle's 2016-17 Championship season, but the forward only managed six Premier League goals last term.

The 27-year-old played in all but three of Newcastle's 38 Premier League matches during the 2017-18 campaign, meanwhile, which is an indication of his position at St James' Park.

It is being reported that Gayle does not want to leave the Magpies this summer, but the club's supporters do not exactly share that view.

Indeed, even at £10m - which is a relatively small price for a Premier League striker - the Newcastle fans want Gayle to be sold in this summer's transfer window.
