Newcastle in further misery after star player injured

Crisis club Newcastle are suffering a goalkeeping conundrum after Dutch ‘keeper Tim Krul was injured on international duty, according to the Daily Mail.

Netherlands coach Danny Blind revealed ‘it looks like a bad injury’ after the Magpies star landed awkwardly on his knee during the 4-0 win over Kazakhstan.

Toon boss Steve McClaren is without backup shot stopper Karl Darlow, who is out of action with a foot injury.

The North East giants find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League after a terrible start to the season and were recently beaten by Manchester City 6-1.

With ties against Norwich, Stoke, Bournemouth and the Tyne-Wear derby coming up – former England boss McClaren could be forced to field third choice net minder Rob Elliot.

The former Charlton man is yet to feature this term, but could be thrown in at the deep end should Krul be unavailable for next Sunday’s clash with Norwich City.
