The Telegraph journalist Luke Edwards has claimed that Newcastle United are still hopeful of signing Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen before the end of the month.

However, Edwards has revealed that Steve Bruce's side are not prepared to meet Hull's £22m valuation, meaning that the deal is at a standstill for the moment.

Bowen has been in excellent form for the Tigers during the 2019/20 campaign, finding the back of the net on 17 occasions in 30 appearances.

He has struck 16 times in 28 Championship outings this term, whilst his overall record for his current club is 54 goals in 129 appearances.

According to Edwards, Newcastle are interested in the attacker but are only willing to offer £12m up front with various add-ons to potentially follow based on performances.

However, Hull are, as it stands, not prepared to budge from their valuation.

Meanwhile, journalist Lee Ryder has recently denied that Newcastle are in the market for this player during the January window.
