Newcastle keen to bring Chelsea man back

Newcastle are ready to launch a move to re-sign Demba Ba from Chelsea at the end of the season, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Senegalese star was a fans’ favourite at St James’ Park prior to his 2013 switch to west London, banging in almost 30 goals in one-and-a-half seasons.

Despite his success with the Magpies, the 28-year-old has struggled at Chelsea, with now boss Jose Mourinho having often frozen him out of first-team action this season.

Ba himself is said to be ready to leave to get his career back on track, which has alerted Newcastle.

Alan Pardew is still a fan of the prolific goal-getter, and could look to lure him back to the North East amid concerns that Loic Remy may not stay on Tyneside beyond his loan stint from QPR.

Fans of the club have also voiced their displeasure at a lack of transfer activity in recent times, which could further tempt the board to sanction a deal to bring back a former favourite.

Ba cost Chelsea £7m last year, but he is likely to be available for below that figure this summer.
